Getting Backseat on the road
I joined Backseat’s founding team in Sydney in early 2014. We were building a ridesharing app, and I worked across the product, website, and brand.
I designed the user flows and app screens, built parts of the interface, and designed and coded the website. I also made the things we needed around the product, from icons and flyers to investor decks.
We were featured on Channel 9’s Financial Review Sunday, but the risk of heavy fines made it difficult to keep going. Drivers faced fines of up to $110,000 for charging for trips without accreditation. We were still looking for funding and couldn’t take that risk, so we paused the business while exploring other options.
